Lattice for freelancers
Lattice is a canvas where freelance creatives turn a client project's raw material, the images, links, PDFs, notes, and voice memos, into a board they can present or send without apologizing for it. Drop everything in as you work, let Lattice group it into frames, and share one read-only link the client can open on any device with no account.
Open a board- The first thing a client sees is a moodboard you introduce with 'sorry, this is still a bit messy'.
- You bill for the design, not for the evening spent rebuilding references in a deck.
- The client's partner has opinions, and they see the work as a zip of JPEGs in a forwarded email.
Dump the project onto a board
Every client project starts as a pile in six places: a folder of screenshots, a note of links, a brief in your inbox, a voice memo from the call, a PDF the client sent. Lattice takes all of it on one board. Drop the images. Paste the links and they unfurl with a preview. Drop the PDF and it opens in place. Record or drop the voice memo and you get the transcript alongside it. Clip references from the browser with the web clipper as you research. Templates for brand and interior work give a first structure if you want one, and the board is infinite, so two directions can sit next to each other at full size. For now the job is just to get the project out of your tabs and somewhere you can see it whole.
Let Lattice organize the mess, then curate
With the project on one surface, let Lattice make the first pass: it sorts the pile into frames by what the cards have in common, names the groups, and threads a line between the references that belong to the same idea. That's the folder turned into sections. The part that's actually your job comes next: cutting. Three strong references per section beat ten adequate ones, and a board that shows restraint reads as confidence. Drag the extras onto a second board of your own; the client never needs to see the drafts. Ring the one you're recommending so it's clearly a recommendation and not another option. Rename the frames so the board tells a small story, context, then mood, then direction, then how it lands on their project, instead of running in the order you happened to find things. That structure is what makes it read as considered.
Present it, send it, adjust it
On the call, open presentation mode. The canvas goes full-screen and the panels go away, and you take the client through it frame by frame with nothing competing for their attention and nothing to apologize for. After the call, turn on link sharing and send the board instead of a zip. It opens in a browser on their phone with no account, and forwards cleanly to the partner or the boss who also gets a vote. Then 'can it pop a bit more' arrives, as it always does. Adjust the frame it's about, and the link they already have shows the change in place, next to the version they reacted to. If someone wants a leave-behind, export to PDF. And since Lattice is free during public beta, the tool isn't a line on the invoice.
Questions
- Does my client have to sign up to view it?
- No sign-up on their side. With link sharing on, anyone holding the link can open the board read-only in a browser.
- Can I present a board full-screen?
- Yes. Presentation mode goes full-screen and steps through the board a frame at a time.
- Can I keep separate boards for separate clients?
- Yes. Boards are unlimited during beta. Make one per project, or one per direction.
- Can I export the board?
- Yes: PDF, PNG, JPG, and SVG.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Lattice costs nothing during public beta and doesn't ask for a card. A $12 per month Studio tier is announced and waitlisted, not yet on sale.
